Cleaning of dock bottoms is being carried out at Western Shipyard dockyards

A project of cleaning dock bottoms is being carried out at Klaipeda port, which means that our three dock bottoms in Lithuania will be cleaned as well.

As of today, a dock bottom where the biggest dock of Western Shiprepair is located, has been successfully cleaned. Its depth now is the same as initially – 16 metres.

The cleaning of dock bottoms near pier no. 139 of Western Shipyard and pier no. 65A of Western Baltija Shipbuilding is planned for the first half of 2015.

According to Arnoldas Shileika, the executive director of Western Shipyard, the removal of contaminated soil and recovery of design depth of dock bottoms will further improve our competitiveness in ship-repair. „We will now be able to provide services to vessels with maximum planned parameters, and continue to develop new market segments for special purpose service vessels, such as fishing trawlers and oil platform service vessels,“- he said.
