BLRT Grupp produces blocks for the world's largest hybrid ferry

Western Baltija Shipbuilding shipyard, an affiliated company of BLRT Grupp, commenced production of hull blocks for the world's largest hybrid ferry, commissioned by Norwegian company Ulstein Verft AS. In July 2018, the blocks will be delivered to the client for the final assembly of the ferry.

The construction of ship involves innovative solutions to reduce noise and emissions enabling to build more eco-friendly ferry. Batteries of electric drive hybrid ferry will be charged using port facilities or on-board generators.

"This order is very significant for us. It is a sign of trust in our shipyard from the part of one of the leading shipbuilding company in Scandinavia, for which the quality and delivery time are of paramount importance. For us, Ulstein Verft became the third strategic partner after Meyer Werft (Papenburg and Turku shipyards) and Arctech (Finland)," explains Arnoldas Shileika, CEO of Western Shipyard Group.

In summer 2019 the RoPax ferry will travel the route Norway - Sweden- Norway. It  will allow to accommodate about 2000 passengers and up to 500 vehicles on board.
