Estonia’s Best Young Welders Named

Within the frames of republic competition „Young Master“ under the auspices of  BLRT Grupp the competition among young welders was held for the first time on March 6, 2015. Nine vocational education institutions of Estonia, training welders, participated in the competition. For the title “Best Welder” competed 18 participants.  

Competition was held in two age categories – “pupils on the basis of a middle school under 20 years of age” and “pupils on the basis of a secondary school under 25 years of age”. Participants wrote a theory test and each of them welded two samples (pupils under 20 years of age – 135 BW PF and  111 FW PB types, pupils under 25 years of age – 135 BW PC and 111 FW PF types).

First place in the category «pupils on the basis of a middle school under 20 years of age» took Anton Skvortsov from Tallinn Lasnamäe Mechanic School.

First place in the category «pupils on the basis of a secondary school under 25 years of age» took Ott Soon from Tallinn Lasnamäe Mechanic School.

Welder’s competition was organized on the base of Tallinn Lasnamäe Mechanic School. Representatives of the educational institutions from Tartu, Sillamäe, Narva, Rakvere and other Estonian cities participated as well. A life show of competition was held on the screen of the Blue Pavilion of Estonian Exhibition Centre – main competition venue, where at the same time competed the representatives of another 24 professions, among them electricians, mechatronics, information technologist, locksmiths-plumbers.   

Republic-wide competition „Young Master“  is held annually already for 6 successive years and every year attracts more and more attention – number of professions, in which competitions are held, and  the number of participants, increases. Winners will represent Estonia in the European competition of professional mastership EuroSkills and in the worldwide competition World Skills, that will take place in summer this year in Brazil.
